Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, provide information to website owners, and improve user experience.
2. How We Use Cookies
Vakteye uses cookies for the following purposes:
2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the website to function properly. They enable core functionality such as security, authentication, and session management.
Legal basis: Exempt from consent under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive as strictly necessary to provide the service you requested.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| sb-*-auth-token | Authentication | Session |
| __Host-* | Security | Session |
| NEXT_LOCALE | Language preference | 1 year |
| vakteye_consent | Cookie consent preference | 1 year |
| vakteye_region | Region detection (set by server) | 1 day |
2.3 Analytics Cookies
We use a self-hosted, cookieless, anonymous analytics service on our marketing website. It does not set any cookies, does not store IP addresses, and does not collect personal data. All metrics are aggregated and anonymous. The service runs entirely on our own infrastructure within the European Union and no data leaves our control. The analytics script loads only after you give explicit consent through our cookie banner — it is never loaded by default. What we measure: page views (anonymized aggregate), performance metrics (page load time, rendering speed — no personal data), and aggregated behavioral events (page section interactions, navigation patterns — no personal data, no form contents, no search queries with text). What we do NOT collect: no email addresses, no form input values, no IP addresses, no user identifiers, no session recordings, no keystrokes, no mouse movements, no heatmaps.
Legal basis: Your consent under GDPR Article 6(1)(a) gated by ePrivacy Directive Article 5(3) / LEK 9 kap §28. The Analytics toggle in the cookie banner is OFF by default. You can withdraw consent at any time via the cookie settings in the footer.
| Item | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| No cookies set | Anonymous analytics — page views, performance metrics, aggregated interaction events (cookieless, no personal data) | Session only (no persistent storage on visitor device) |
We do not currently use marketing cookies. The marketing category in our cookie settings is reserved for future use.
3. Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies are set by third-party services that appear on our pages:
- Payment processing: (reserved — no third-party payment cookies set; billing is invoiced)
- Authentication: Session management and secure login
- Anti-bot / anti-fraud challenge: A cookieless invisible challenge from our DNS and bot-protection provider runs on pages that contain forms (chat, contact, newsletter signup, DSAR request, demo booking) to block automated spam and abuse. The challenge only loads after you interact with a form (focus an input or tap a button) — never on idle page-views. No cookie is written; the challenge uses scoped device-confidence signals (Privacy Pass / PAT) that are not stored on your device after the request completes. Legal basis: strictly necessary for the security of the service you requested (ePrivacy Directive Article 5(3) carve-out) + GDPR Article 6(1)(f) legitimate interest in anti-spam and abuse prevention. No consent required.
We do not currently use advertising cookies or sell data to third parties.
Some third-party cookies may involve data transfers outside the EEA. For details on how we safeguard international data transfers, see the International Transfers section of our Privacy Policy.
4. Managing Cookies
You can control and manage cookies in several ways:
4.1 Browser Settings
Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies through their settings. Note that blocking all cookies may affect website functionality.
4.2 Our Cookie Consent
When you first visit our website, you will see a cookie consent banner. You can update your preferences at any time by clicking “Cookie Settings” in the footer.
5. Do Not Track & Global Privacy Control
We honor Do Not Track (DNT) and Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signals. When either is detected we automatically apply a rejection of non-essential storage and record the decision in our consent audit log — no banner interaction required from you.
6. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. The “Last updated” date at the top indicates when the policy was last revised.
